My name is Calvin Reich, and from the moment I was born, I was thrown into theatre. My mom is a director and voice teacher, my dad a pianist. When I was born 4 weeks early, I came into the world 3 weeks before the show my mom was directing went up. I saw my first ever show, Annie, at 3 weeks old. Ever since then, I’ve had a deep love for theatre and music. For a while in my early high school years I barely considered musical theatre as something I could pursue. Not because of a lack of passion and love, but because many of the people around me had convinced me I should not. But one day in my sophomore year after opening night of our musical, another person, one of dozens, asked me if I would pursue theatre, and it was like a lightbulb finally went off. I suddenly realized my mom was right about me needing to go for it. Every other option I had convinced myself I would rather do than my true passion suddenly didn’t matter anymore, I knew I would be a performer.

Since my mom shared her passion with me and changed my life, I strive to

be that person to the new generation. I’ve always been good with kids, and loved working in nurseries, daycares, and as a babysitter. I’ve seen the light appear in kids’ eyes when they listen to music, sing along, or are introduced to their first Disney musical. Having both a background in childcare/childhood education, and theatrics, I decided to try my hand at teaching kids theatre. I worked as an assistant music director while my mom music directed, a summer theatre camp counselor, and was even a stage manager for a young adult show that included tweens/young teens. My true passion is performing, and that is the only thing I love more than sharing that passion with other people who can hopefully find the joy and purpose that I have.
